Don't Quit - a Flashback of my fruitful life

Have you heard about the poem in titled "Don't Quit"?

The first time I recited this poem was when I was in college way back in 2001. We have these school activities as part of our team building and our college dean and president Mr. Gilbert Fernandez passed a piece of paper to us and asked us to jog around while memorizing the poem. As i held the paper, i told to my self "this is boring" and I just give him a teasing smile.

As i started to jog, I don't feel any challenges at that moment, so i told to my self that "sisiw lang to" (too easy). And i finish my first round and stop at him and started to recite the poem. As I started to show off, i failed to complete the poem so he look at me and he ask me to run back again and stop to him once i memorize the poem. So i jog around; trying to memorize every line of it.

My world stops for awhile as I feel sorry to myself for not taking it seriously. Kasi akala ko "sisiw lang to" (too easy)

As i continue to run, i told to my self na "kaya ko to" (I can do it) and as jog around, I clear all the doubts i had and focus on what I am doing instead.

I enjoyed running around uttering every lines of the poem with excitement. It was a perfect moment for me as I reading it with my heart. And after 3 more rounds I stop at him and started to recite with confidence and as expected I completed the poem with happiness. And he told me that "He is proud of me for not quitting the challenge"

Moral lesson: Sometimes in our life, may mga pagsubok tayo na pinagdadaanan na parang akala natin di natin kayang lampasan. Pero kung lilinisin natin ang ating puso at isipan, sigurado akong atin itong malalampasan basta lang "DON'T QUIT"

I wanted to share it to you and I hope that it will inspire you as well.

Don't Quit

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit-
Rest if you must, but don't you quit.

Life is queer with its twists and turns,
 As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a fellow turns about
When he might have won had he stuck it out.
Don't give up though the pace seems slow -
You may succeed with another blow.
Often the goal is nearer than It seems to a faint and faltering man;
Often the struggler has given up When he might have captured the victor's cup;
And he learned too late when the night came down,
How close he was to the golden crown.

Success is failure turned inside out -
The silver tint in the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are,
It might be near when it seems afar;
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit -
It's when things seem worst that you must not quit.
